Julionne Johnson

Julionne Johnson

Julionne Johnson has always expressed a love for sewing and designing since in high school when she took Home Economics. Julionne’s grandmother presented her with a sewing machine for Christmas in 2012. As much as she had a passion for sewing the only problem was after trials and errors, she realized that this was not possible to excel in. Simple hemlines and zipper fix were possible but no extravagant sewing that would stand out. With her creative background as an actor, writer, director, and not giving up attitude, she got the idea about making a paper skirt for a creative photoshoot as a model in September 2013. Julionne received compliments from photographers and other models for the outbox thinking and designs.
In December 2013, Julionne started her own clothing design Recycled Integrated Possibilities (R.I.P) Designs, fashion with a creative twist and used recycle paper & materials to create all types of designs. Julionne signed up with Patricia Sharma owner of Snooty Booty Designs to help connect Julionne with Modele Net an online modeling agency. As a recycle designer with model Net, R.I.P Design began to gain numerous clienteles.
R.I.P Designs collections have been worn by numerous models and has been seen on the runway such as the Charlotte Fashion Week, NC Fashion Week, St. Louis Red Carpet Extravaganza in St. Louis, East Coast Take7 Fashion Show in New Jersey, Renaldo Style Fashion Week in Fairmont, NC and Le Reve Elite Supermodel fashion show in Georgia. R.I.P Designs next stop is New Jersey City for the upcoming Fashion Week in September 2015. The possibilities are unlimited for this talented young lady.

Amberle Linnea

Amberle Linnea

Amberle is an award-winning cosplayer who regularly appears at comic conventions around the country. “Cosplay” = costume plus play, usually associated with “geekery” genres – sci fi, comic books, etc. Amberle’s work has been featured in the Girls of the Con Calendar (twice), in AlmostNerdy.com, in CosCouture, and in other publications. Her full profile can be seen at facebook.com/AmberleLinnea (Amberle Linnea Cosplayer if searching).
Amberle deliberately chooses characters that challenge her to learn new artistic techniques. The last year has been mostly devoted to learning how to make true steel-boned corsets (mostly because, ahem, she likes the silhouette they create). 2015 and 2016 are focused on adding textures, complexity, and special effects – lights, sounds, etc.
When she’s not dressing up, Amberle Linnea drinks too much red wine; reads crazy amounts of fiction; romps with her ten pets; refuses to see the Ender’s Game movie (because it can NEVER compare to the book); and tries to identify piercings and tattoos she can add without exposing them in her day time corporate career.

Malou

Cordeo Fashions

Malou and Venie were born and raised in the Philippines, and immigrated here to the US. They have been performers and choreographers for the FACC (Filipino American Community of the Carolinas) for many years, and enjoy high fashion as well as designing Philippine-inspired costumes.
Malou T. Cordery moved to the US in 1992 and established residence in California. She moved to Charlotte in 1999 with her husband and two daughters, and immediately became involved with community outreach here in Charlotte, participating as a dancer and choreographer at the Asian Festival, UNCC’s International Festival, and Festival in the Park. Malou also served as 1st vice president of the FACC. Her love of fashion began at a young age, but her artistic side emerged as she began making traditional Filipino costumes for her daughters to wear during cultural performances. Using craft materials to embellish her costumes enabled her to transition as a recyclable designer.
Venie Tadeo is an engineer by profession. He loves running and landscaping. His love of fashion was acquired while in school in the Philippines. He moved to the US in the 1980’s and lived in Hollywood, California for many years, during which time he became inspired by the couture of the Hollywood stars, which brought out his latent artistic talent for fashion and the arts.
Together, Malou and Venie make up Cordeo Fashions, and are excited to participate again this year in CharlotteSeen Passport for Fashion and Fashion Week in the unconventional design category.

Sara Ward

Sara Ward

My love for the creative process of fashion design has been instilled in me since my mother taught me how to sew when I was very young. I was in the Rising Star program at Savannah College of Art and Design the summer before my senior year in high school. I fell in love with the school and ended up majoring in Fashion Design. Although my life has taken many paths, fashion will always be a part of who I am. I love to design and create empowering garments as I believe it can truly change how a person feels about themselves. I was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana and raised throughout almost all of the Southern states. Seeing the different cultures around the United States has inspired me to want to create items for every different type of woman.

Her bold, new age retro styling is eye catching for the runway, yet appropriate for everyday wear. When she’s not stopping traffic with her “it girl” fashion, Ebony is being a full time mother to her son Donavan. Her son, boyfriend, and family have been her biggest inspiration from day to day. You may have seen her featured in fashion events such as Charlotte Fashion Week 2012 or Passport Fashion 2013, she has recently started her own fashion business called Navanod’s Styling Service (www.navanodstylingservice.com). During her college years, she has performed digital design and digital formatting work. Since graduating, she has been focusing on translating these fashion illustrations into tangible pieces of art.
