Melissa Davis
In the mid 90s with no formal training designer, Melissa Davis started sewing garments for herself that stood out and got lots of attention. A few years later, she moved from her hometown of Boston to Charlotte, NC and took her hobby more seriously. After getting numerous requests for custom made garments, Melissa started Foxx Skynz by Design in 2003.
Challenging her creative mind, she mixed and matched fabrics and notions not normally used together to make fashions for men and women that were eye catching and flattering. Over the years, she showcased these one of a kind outfits across America (including... NYC, ATL, Seattle, NJ, Charlotte and more). About a decade later, Melissa took a break from fashion and redirected her designs.
In 2015, Foxx Skynz went from clothing to handbags using that same creative style. The first bags were distinctive wristlets, that made women want more. Soon other classic, trendsetter and modernized contemporary styles followed. There was an unexpected demand that following year, but ultimately the bags debuted in 2017.
Like her clothing, she uses a mix of materials that are flattering and demand attention. The color and fabric combinations are phenomenal. Currently there are 6 styles in this collection. The large bags include; one handbag, tote and backpack. The smaller bags are all clutches; wristlet, handled and envelope. However, more are on the way. Three cross-body styles are in production.
These bags have been sold at various events, like the Southern Women's Show, elite fashion shows and by word of mouth. They evoke a certain youthful joy. When people see them they can't contain their excitement. Look for more as this is only the beginning! And remember, to be foxxy is an attitude. The skyn (skin) is how you wear it.
